HOW DO WE STAY MOBILE? THE FUTURE WITHOUT CARS

HOW DO WE STAY MOBILE? THE FUTURE WITHOUT CARS
45 min. | Documentary | MDR Science | Hoferichter & Jacobs Filmproduktion | Co-Writer: Nicolas Hecker

German Geographical Union Media Award 2019

A car costs a lot of money, makes noise and blows fine dust into the air, takes up space and stands around unused for almost 23 hours a day. It is becoming an increasing problem, especially in cities. There are simply too many cars on the road. Cyclists and pedestrians are confidently demanding more rights. Traffic planners are therefore faced with major challenges.

The place for the car is being renegotiated and the primacy of the car is increasingly questioned. The film questions our relationship to our own car and the possibilities of getting by without it. It introduces pioneers who offer alternatives and scientists who show solutions for the traffic of the future. Shot in Berlin, Dresden, Leipzig, Halle, Magdeburg, Cologne, Vogtland and Oslo.
